PALACETE DO NICANDRO

O palacete de linhas clássicas, demolido em fins de 1989. Foi construído no inicio de século por Manoel Nicandro Martins, após arrecadar muito dinheiro no negocio da borracha, no final do século XIX. Contratando mão-de-obra especializada em Abaetetuba-PA, em 1901/1902. Acossado por dividas. Em consequências, levado a leilão em fins de 1913, o prédio foi arrematado por Américo Peixoto. Este, em 1915, vendeu o prédio ao empresário português Oscar Ramos. Em abril de 1963, já pertencendo ao SESI – Serviço Social da Indústria, foi vendido ao judeu Amazonense Moisés Benarrós Israel. Antes, dera abrigo a residência oficiais, clubes dançantes e escolas, além das repartições federais IAN Instituto Agronômico do Norte, INCRA-Instituto Nacional de Colonização e Reforma Agrária, IBRA-Instituto Brasileiro de Reforma Agrária e INDA-Instituto Nacional de Desenvolvimento Agrário, e a representação do próprio SESI.
